Nevada Falls 19-6 To Utah Valley





RENO, NEV. - The Wolf Pack baseball team (6-16) lost 19-6 to the Utah Valley Wolverines in game two of this weekend's series.

Nevada scored three runs on four hits in the first inning, but LHP Brock Stassi could not hold the lead, allowing four runs on two doubles, a triple and a walk in the top of the second.

Nick Melino homered for the second consecutive game to lead off the second inning and the Pack added one more run on a Garrett Yrigoyen RBI single to go ahead 5-4.The lead did not last long as the Wolverines scored three runs in the top of the third, two runs in the fourth, five runs in the fifth and five runs in the eight en route to a 19-6 victory.

Nick Melino went 2-3 with a single, home run and two walks and extended his hit streak to seven games. He has now reached base safely in all 22 games this season.

Garrett Yrigoyen also had a good day at the plate going 2-2 with two singles, one walk and was hit by a pitch and drove in three runs.

LHP Brock Stassi (0-1, 17.36 ERA) was tagged with the loss in the first decision of the year. Senior RHP Mark Joukoff will start tomorrow for Nevada as they look to take the series from the Wolverines.
