RENO, NEV. - Tom Jameson (0-4) took a tough loss in his best start of the season today, as the University of Nevada baseball team (4-11) lost game two of the double header 2-1 to the UCSB Gauchos (9-6).
Jameson allowed a season-low one run in seven innings, but was outdueled by Gauchos RHP Matthew Vedo who allowed just one hit and one run in a complete game victory.
Jameson struck out eight UCSB hitters in seven innings and held them scoreless in his last six. Jameson gave up his only run in the first inning after giving up back-to-back doubles to UCSB DH Derek Eligio and second baseman Sean Williams.
RHP Tyler Rogstad entered the game in the eighth inning and gave up one run on two hits and one walk.
Nevada got its first hit with two outs in the ninth when Joe Kohan doubled down the left field line to score Anthony Rosa. Rosa pinch hit for Curtis Frisbie, reached on an error and advanced to second on the overthrow.
With the tying run on second in Kohan, Brock Stassi grounded out to the short stop to end the game.
Mark Joukoff will start tomorrow when Nevada takes on UCSB in the series finale tomorrow at 1 p.m. before heading to Berkeley, Calif. to take on California Monday.
