Nevada Loses 5-0 in Series Finale Against UNLV
RENO, Nev. - The Wolf Pack baseball team (0-9) fell 5-0 to UNLV (11-2) in the finale of the two teams first three game series since 2007.
RHP Mark Joukoff gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings of work in his third start of the year. It was Joukoff's second straight outing in which he lasted six innings.
Nevada loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with one out, but did not score after Jamison Rowe grounded into a fielder's choice and Garrett Yrigoyen bounced out to the short stop for the third out of the inning.
UNLV scored four runs in the first inning and added another run on a Rance Roundy solo shot in the top of the eighth inning.
Brock Stassi reached base four times for the second consecutive game today. Stassi was hit by a pitch in the first inning, reached on an error in the fourth and drew walks in the sixth and eighth innings.
Hugo Hernandez went 2-4 with two singles in his first multi-hit game of his Nevada career.
The Wolf Pack heads to UC Davis this Tuesday for one game before returning to Peccole Park for three games against the Pacific Tigers Friday Mar. 11.
