Rifle Sweeps UTEP 4625-4579 in Weekend Home Opener

The University of Nevada rifle team won their third straight match over UTEP Sunday 4625-4579. With the win, the Wolf Pack extends their unbeaten streak at home to 14.

The Wolf Pack together dominated the Miners 2281-2264 in the small bore and 2344-2315 in the air rifle.

“This is a good score, not a great score but a good one,” coach Fred Harvey said about the Pack’s air rifle score. “This is one of the best scores in the country but we need to do better if we want to make nationals.”

Senior Meghann Morrill led the Wolf Pack in the air rifle with a 590 and freshman Jessica Klatt finished behind Morrill with a 587.

“They shot very well,” Harvey said. “Meghann, Andy (Hickey) and Jessica had the scores but Lee (Lemenager) and Heather (Horn) showed their great courage. They dug themselves in a hole and Lee was able to get out of it. I’m proud of them.”
