RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada sophomore Mitchell Van Patten recently added three more All-America honors to his tally in his second season in the program. Van Patten was named to the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association honorable mention All-America squad. The National Rifle Association selected him to a pair of All-America teams, the smallbore second team and the air rifle honorable mention squad.
In February Van Patten was named to the Patriot Rifle League team for the second consecutive year. He was also selected to the NRA smallbore honorable mention All-America team as a freshman.
After his outstanding performance at the Winter Airgun Championships in December, along with his consistent shooting the past two seasons he earned a spot on the USA Junior National Team. Van Patten, from Nampa, Idaho is one of 14 shooters on the junior team.
In his sophomore season, Van Patten posted the Pack’s top scores in air rifle (594), smallbore (588) and aggregate (1182) that combines the two events.
