Christenson qualifies for NCAA Rifle Championships
RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada rifle student-athlete Dempster Christenson was selected to compete at the NCAA Rifle Championships held March 10-12 at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga. This is Christenson's third consecutive trip to the National Championship.
Christenson, one of eight individuals selected, will be competing in both the air rifle and the small bore. The junior from Sioux Falls, S.D. is the only athlete who qualified in both guns.
Christenson led the Wolf Pack to a 5-1 regular season finish, posting the team's top score in both disciplines on four occasions. His top air rifle score was 592 against UTEP Oct. 23, and his top bore rifle score (585) came against UTEP Oct. 30.
"We are delighted for this opportunity to compete," head coach Fred Harvey said. "Dempster has had an extraordinary season. There is no better way to finish than competing at the National Championships."
Fellow Wolf Pack athlete Clif Little missed the cut off for air rifle by one point.
