RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada rifle time travels to Fairbanks, Alaska to compete in the NCAA Qualifier with UTEP and Alaska on Friday and Saturday. The small bore competition is on Friday and air rifle is Saturday at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range
On Thursday the Wolf Pack and UTEP will compete in a neutral site match in preparation for the weekend.
“We are looking forward to the challenge presented by the number 2 ranked team in the nation,” head coach Fred Harvey said. “We also look forward to opportunity to see the northern lights.”
All three teams are ranked in the top 20 of the latest Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association top 20. Alaska is the highest ranked team at number 2. The Pack is 17th and UTEP 20th.
Nevada defeated UTEP twice this season in dual competitions. The Pack and Nanooks both competed at the inaugural Patriot Rifle Conference Championship won by Alaska and the Pack finished fifth.
