RENO, Nev. -

The No. 8 University of Nevada rifle team defeated No. 9 UTEP 4640 to 4633 Saturday in El Paso.

Nevada had a strong consistent performance led by Dempster Christenson and Chelsie Hata. Christenson took high honors in small bore shooting 580 while Hata shot a 589 in air rifle.

With the win, the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Poll released this week has the team ranked eighth. The CRCA top 10 can be found below.

The team has a break as they enter the off season and will return to action January 21 when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a match at Air Force.
