The No. 7 University of Nevada rifle team wrapped up a doubleheader at UTEP, finishing in second place on Saturday and third place on Sunday.
No.7 Nevada finished the first day of competition with 4,648 points behind UTEP’s 4,671 total. Alaska Fairbanks rounded out the field in third place with 4,619 points. Nevada was led by Dempster Christenson who took high honors in air rifle with a score of 592. Cliff Little and Chelsie Hata also had strong air rifle scores with 589 and 588 respectively.
In day two, Nevada took third place with a score of 4,641. UTEP took first place with 4,659 points followed by Alaska Fairbanks with 4,647 points. The team had a good showing in small bore with Chelsie Hata and Haunani Akana each scoring 576 points. Dempster Christenson had another good performance in air rifle shooting 592.
The team has the weekend off before they return to El Paso, Texas for another match at UTEP the following week.
