FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The University of Nevada rifle team finished third at the NCAA Qualifier at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range on the campus of the University of Alaska.   Second ranked Alaska won with a score of 4679, followed by #20 UTEP 4563 and the 17th ranked Wolf Pack 4561.

Alaska shot 2333 in small bore and Nevada was second with a score of 2267.  Alaska’s Ryan Anderson won the event with a score of 587.  Nevada’s Haunani Akana posted the fifth best score with a 579.   Elsa Ochsner shot 569 to tie for ninth.  Jessica Ruxton (561) was 12th, Greta Ochsner (558) placed 15th and Niki Silveria (557) finished 16th.

In air rifle Alaska won with a score of 2346, UTEP’s 2312 was second and Nevada shot 2294.  Alaska’s Tim Sherry and Mike Liuzza both shot 588 to tie for first.  Akana and Greta Ochsner tied for 12th with a score of 576.  Elsa placed 15th with her 572 followed by Ruxton (570) in 16th and Silveria (553) was 17th.
