Nevada fifth at inaugural PRC Championship

Nevada placed fifth at the Patriot Rifle Conference championship.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Nevada rifle team placed fifth at the inaugural Patriot Rifle Conference Championship hosted by Ohio State University at the Hugh W. Wylie Range on Saturday and Sunday.  The Wolf Pack shot 4565 while Alaska won the PRC Championship with a score of 4702.

Air Force earned second place with a score of 4649 followed by TCU’s 4647 and Ohio State was fourth shooting 4639.

The Pack shot 2260 in the small bore on Saturday.  Sophomore Greta Ochsner posted the team’s top score of 567.  Jessica Ruxton was just one point off with a score of 566.  Haunani Akana shot 564 with Elsa Ochsner and Niki Silveria both totaling 563.

Sunday Nevada shot 2305 in air rifle.  Akana topped the Pack with a score of 583.  Ruxton shot 581 and Greta Ochsner 579.  Elsa Ochsner’s score was 562 and Silveria posted a score of 556.

Nevada travels to Fairbanks, Alaska on Feb. 20 to compete against Alaska and UTEP.  On Feb. 22-23 the Pack competes in the NCAA Championship qualifier at Alaska’s E.F. Horton Rifle Range.
