Sports Medicine Mission Statement
The mission of the University of Nevada Sports Medicine program is to provide high quality medical care to Nevada student-athletes through prevention, recognition, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. High quality medical care of the student athlete is always the main priority for all members of the sports medicine staff. In addition, the Sports Medicine program provides injury prevention programs, counseling and guidance for student-athletes, coaches, support staff and administration.
As part of an institution of higher learning, the University of Nevada Sports Medicine program participates in the learning process by educating Nevada undergraduate student medical assistants and graduate assistant athletic trainers, UNSOM medical students, residents and sports medicine fellows.
The members of the Sports Medicine Athletic Training Staff are all NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainers. The full-time athletic trainers of the University of Nevada are responsible for the health of their specific sports. All staff members hold additional certifications by the American Heart Association.
