People Posing as Wolf Pack Student-Athletes Soliciting False Donations
RENO, Nev. Reno and Sparks residents should be aware that people falsely identifying themselves as University of Nevada student-athletes have been going door-to-door soliciting monetary donations.
The University of Nevada does not send its student-athletes out into the community to ask for monetary donations or to sell products. Some of the pitches these people have made include that they are selling cleaning products to raise money and/or collecting donations to pay for team trips to regionals or Hawaii.
Reno-Sparks residents should be aware that these people are not Wolf Pack student-athletes and any money given to them is not going to the sports teams or to the Wolf Pack athletics department.
People who may have donated money to these door-to-door solicitors are urged to contact their banks as well as the Reno or Sparks police departments. They can also contact Tekla Martin in the Nevada athletics department with any questions at 775-682-6976.
