Jack Cook (1968-88/ Coach of Men's Cross Country, Track)





Jack Cook retired in July 1988 after 21 years as Nevada’s head track and cross country coach. He guided his cross country teams to ten conference championships (seven West Coast Athletic and three Big Sky) and his track teams to six conference titles (three WCAC and three Big Sky). He was undefeated in collegiate cross country dual meets (58-0) and coached 23 All-America athletes in the two sports. Cook has been Big Sky Coach of the Year three times each in cross country and in track, paralleling his championships (1981, 82, and 84 in track, 79, 80, and 83 in cross country). He was District Seven (Rocky Mountain area) coach of the year in track in 1984.

Justin Bridgman

Baseball

Junior Justin Bridgman was named to the Mountain West All-Tournament team after leading Nevada to its first MW championship finals appearance in program history. The local product batted .520 with 13 hits, eight RBI, seven runs and five doubles. He also had a perfect fielding percentage on the week.
