Basic Swimming for Adults: Introductory Fitness/Competition

April 20, 2013, Saturday, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Held at the University of Nevada, Reno

Join NCAA Division I coaches to learn the basics to take your swimming to the next level!

Whether you're preparing for your first triathlon or just interested in a new form of fitness, this clinic is designed to help novice swimmers learn basic swimming techniques. Focus will be on efficient freestyle and tools to complete 500 yards. Depending on individuals' goals, instruction in other strokes may be included.

  • No competitive swimming or triathlon experience is required.
  • Must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool).
  • Participants will be divided into groups based on their comfort in the water.
  • Bring a swimsuit, goggles, at least one towel and a water bottle.

Intermediate/Advanced Swimming for Adults: Experienced Fitness/Competition

April 21, 2013, Sunday, 1-3 p.m.
Held at the University of Nevada, Reno

Join NCAA Division I coaches to learn advanced competitive skills to take your swimming to the next level!

This clinic is for intermediate or advanced athletes who want to take their swimming to the next level. The clinic will focus on efficient freestyle but include instruction on flipturns and other strokes to maximize participants' swimming abilities.

  • Must be able to swim 500 yards and/or have completed the Basic Swimming for Adults clinic
  • Bring a swimsuit, goggles, at least one towel and a water bottle.

Mitchell Van Patten

University of Nevada sophomore Mitchell Van Patten’s outstanding shooting this season along with his freshman year and his performance at the Winter Airgun Championships this past weekend has earned him a spot on the USA Junior National Team.  Van Patten, from Nampa, Idaho is one of 14 shooters on the junior team.
