25th Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament June 25-30

The 2013 Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament will take place June 25-30 and this year marks the 25th year of the annual tournament that is being played at Nevada's Peccole Park and at Reno High School.  This year's field is comprised of 14 teams and games start each day at 10 a.m.

Several tournament participants throughout the years have gone on to play for the Wolf Pack.  Heading the list are three players that earned All-America honors for the Pack and went on to play Major League Baseball.

Lyle Overbay, a current member of the New York Yankees, played in the 1996 tournament and earned All-America honors at Nevada in 1999.  Overbay hit .358 with 39 home runs during his four-year career with the Wolf Pack.

Outfielder Chris Dickerson earned Freshman All-America honors playing at Nevada in 2001 after playing in the 2000 tournament.  Dickerson is currently playing for the Baltimore Orioles and batted .286 in three seasons for the Pack.

Catcher Brett Hayes was a 2003 Freshman All-America at Nevada and played in the 2002 Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament.  Hayes saw time with the Miami Marlins and is currently playing Triple-A for the Omaha Storm Chasers an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.  His career average at Nevada was .339 with 22 home runs.

Most recently pitcher Braden Shipley was discovered by the Wolf Pack coaching staff in the 2010 tournament and played three seasons at Nevada.  Shipley was selected in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks and recently signed with the club.  In three years at Nevada he was 17-7 with a 2.79 ERA and 203 strikeouts.
