FRESNO, Calif. – The Nevada softball team beat Fresno State in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday at Bulldog Diamond and the Wolf Pack took a half-game lead in the Western Athletic Conference standings with the victory.

Nevada, 30-14 overall and 10-4 in the WAC, dropped the first game of the doubleheader to Fresno State (28-18, 10-5), 4-0.

With six games left in the regular season, Nevada controls its own destiny in the Western Athletic Conference race. Nevada will return home for the final series of the season at Hixson Park next weekend. Nevada and Utah State will play a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday, which will be senior day.

Katie Holverson (19-7) picked up the complete-game victory for Nevada in the win on Saturday. She scattered five hits and allowed just one earned run without walking a batter and striking out one.

Kym Silagyi and Brittany Puzey each had two hits for the Wolf Pack while Sam Bias drove in a pair of runs. Senior Sarah Hunt made a pair of spectacular catches in centerfield for the Wolf Pack.

Morgan Melloh (22-14) took the loss for Fresno State.

In the first game of the day, Nevada fell 4-0 as the Pack mustered just four hits against the Bulldogs. Fresno State scored four runs in the fourth inning, chasing Nevada starter Mallary Darby.
