The Bulldogs scored four more runs in the bottom of the eighth to make the final score 9-3. Bunting again had the big hit in the inning with a double that plated two of the runs.
Tech tied the score with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Catcher Clint Ewing’s infield single started the inning and with one down center fielder Adam Cobb’s single up the middle put runners on the corners. On a double steal
The Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to go in front 2-1. Left fielder Clint Stubbs singled and moved to second base on an error by Pack center fielder Jason Sadoian. A ground out moved Stubbs to third base where he scored on second baseman Kevin Winn’s sacrifice fly to right field.
In the top of the sixth inning the Pack scored a run to tie the game at 2-2. With one down left fielder Matt Bowman walked and promptly stole second base. Rodriguez followed with an infield single to put runners on the corners for first baseman Shaun Kort. Kort’s sixth sacrifice fly of the season scored Bowman and it was 2-2. Pack shortstop Kevin Rodland broke the tie with a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning as the rain began to fall and play was stopped for the night. La Tech then scored the final seven runs on Saturday to rally for the 9-3 victory.
Pack starter Rod Scurry was a victim of the rain as he allowed just two runs on six hits and struck out six before the weather delay forced him from the game as he could not return to the mound today. Reliever Sammy Miller(2-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing three unearned runs in his one inning of work. Tech reliever Alex Richard(1-1) earned the win pitching two innings of shutout baseball and struck out four.
