LAST WEEK’S RESULTS (0-2)

* vs. Iowa State (Friday)

Nevada pulled to within one with 24 minutes remaining but couldn’t find the back of the net again as Nevada fell to Iowa State, 2-1, Friday.  Nevada had the first good scoring chance of the game for either team in the 7th minute as Karen Zmirak’s header from Samantha Miller’s cross hit the crossbar.  Iowa State went up 1-0 in the 20th minute on a goal by Casey Bothwell.  Just before half, Nevada earned a free kick about 30 yards out. The Pack’s quick restart allowed Jill Erickson to fire a shot at Iowa State keeper Ann Gleason but Erickson’s attempt went high. Iowa State scored its second goal of the game in the 65th minute. Nevada responded one minute later as Zmirak’s left-footed shot from a direct free kick brought Nevada to within one.

* vs. #23 Washington State (Sunday)

The University of Nevada soccer team outshot #23 Washington State, but a Cougar penalty kick in the 65th minute was the difference as nationally-ranked Washington State posted a 1-0 win over the Pack.  Washington State scored the game-winner in the 65th minute on a penalty kick. Cristen Drummond’s shot in the 86th minute narrowly missed tying the game as her blast to the upper left corner forced Cougar keeper Brynn Bemis to make a diving save.  Nevada dominated play for the majority of the first half recording eight shots while holding the Washington State offense shotless for the first 22 minutes of the game.
