BOISE, Idaho – The Nevada football team out-pinned the
Maryland Terrapins in the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl’s “Bowl for Beef” event
Friday at Westy’s Garden Lanes in Garden City.
The Wolf Pack tallied 213 pins in the bowling event while Maryland recorded 196
pins. Nevada’s
pin total means that 426 pounds of Certified Angus Beef will be donated two
pair of charities. Nevada was playing for Boise’s Life’s Kitchen as well as the Evelyn Mount Food Drive in Reno and each
organization will receive 426 pounds of beef as two pounds were donated to each
cause for each pin knocked down.
The event featured a pair of games and the Nevada
offense beat the Maryland
defense in the first game, 109-67 with senior center Dominic Green recording a
strike in the game. Maryland’s offense won the
second game over the Nevada
defense, despite strikes from Jonathon Amaya, Isaiah Frey, Dontay Moch and
Brandon Marshall.
Each of the starters from the teams bowl one frame in the
event, which was sponsored by Food Services of America.
The teams arrived in Boise
on Friday in preparation for the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl on Thursday at
Bronco Stadium. The teams will take part in a Western BBQ Welcome Dinner this
