Wolf Pack Strength and Conditioning

Nevada Strength Philosophy

The Wolf Pack Strength and Conditioning Department is dedicated solely to improving the athletic performance of student-athletes. The program focuses on developing and refining sport-specific movements and modalities in all aspects of strength training and conditioning phases throughout the year.

Specifically, the Wolf Pack Strength and Conditioning program has its foundation built upon the principles of periodization while utilizing variations of the Squat and Olympic Style movements to increase the athletic potential of each individual student-athlete. Each program designed by the Wolf Pack Strength staff incorporates these criteria to cater to the specific needs of each sport program.

The staff at Nevada relies on scientifically based performance research to stay on the cutting edge of strength training. Using various types of training modes, such as biokinematic restoration, symmetry, and mobility exercises, our staff is able to assist student-athletes in reaching their athletic potential. The concise method with which the staff monitors and educates student-athletes, in conjunction with rehab and reconditioning programs formulated by Strength/Sports Medicine staff, places the program among the best in improving and maintaining athletic performance.

In addition to strength training and conditioning, our staff oversees and directs all aspects of performance nutrition within the athletic department. The Wolf Pack Strength Coaches consult and educate student-athletes on a daily basis about the importance of proper nutrition to fuel themselves for the rigors and competition of Division 1 athletics using a “Food First” approach. Keeping with this approach, Model Dairy has generously partnered with the University of Nevada to provide every student-athlete with a post-workout Chocolate Milk drink to aide in recovery, muscle growth, and repair.

The Roger B. Primm Strength and Conditioning Center is a state-of-the-art facility built as part of Phase II of the Pack Village project in 2005. It is located just south of Mackay Stadium and stands at nearly 9,000 square feet of functional space for our athletes to train.
