RENO, Nev. —  Ryan Radtke, Scott Gordon, Dan Gustin and Chris Vargas will make up the new broadcast team that will bring University of Nevada football games to Wolf Pack fans on the radio and television in 2008-09, the university and Wolf Pack Sports Properties announced Friday.

“We are delighted to be able to put together such a talented and experienced broadcast team. Wolf Pack fans will really enjoy the enthusiasm, professionalism and excitement that this team will bring to our radio and television broadcasts,” Nevada Associate Athletics Director Rory Hickok said. “Ryan and Scott are rising talents in the media business, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the Wolf Pack family. We’re equally excited to continue to work with Dan and Chris, who both provide great passion and knowledge of the history of our football program.”

Radtke will handle the radio play-by-play duties for Wolf Pack football and men’s basketball, while Gordon, a former Pac-10 Conference quarterback, will serve as the color analyst for Nevada football games. Radtke will also host Nevada’s football and men’s basketball coaches shows as well as the daily three-minute Wolf Pack radio show.

In addition to appearing on Nevada’s radio broadcasts, Gordon will move to the television booth and serve as the color analyst to Dan Gustin for the University of Nevada Sports Network television broadcasts. For those games, former Nevada quarterbacking legend Chris Vargas will work alongside Radtke in the radio booth as the color analyst.

Radtke comes to Nevada after spending the last 10 years as part of the University of Arizona Radio Network. He has hosted the pregame, haltime and postgame shows for Wildcat football and men’s basketball since 1998 and served as the play-by-play voice for both sports at Arizona. Radtke was the primary play-by-play voice of the Wildcat baseball team from 1999-2003. He has spent the last six years as the play-by-play broadcaster and director of broadcasting for the Tucson Sidewinders, the Triple A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and is currently the youngest broadcaster in the Pacific Coast League.

“I am extremely excited about this opportunity to join the Wolf Pack and call games for two high quality programs,” Radtke said. “My wife and I are looking forward to being a part of the Reno community. I am looking forward to being a part of the success and tradition of Wolf Pack football and basketball.”

Gordon has spent the last four years working as a sideline reporter and analyst for college football, the Arena Football League and the Major Indoor Soccer League on Comcast Sports Net television broadcasts. He has also worked as the Sports USA Radio sideline reporter on its national NFL or collegiate football game of the week. In addition, Gordon has served as the color analyst for San Jose State and UC Davis football broadcasts and was the play-by-play voice for UC Davis basketball and baseball. He played quarterback for two seasons at the University of Arizona from 1993-94 and was a coach’s assistant for the Wildcats from 1995-96.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have the chance to work with a football program that has been to three straight bowl games and has a Hall of Fame coach,” Gordon said. “I am honored to be a part of Wolf Pack Athletics.”

Gustin will cover the television play-by-play duties for football broadcasts on the University of Nevada Sports Network. He will also host the halftime features on the network's football, men's basketball and women's basketball TV broadcasts. Gustin served as the Wolf Pack radio voice since 1975.

Vargas has spent the last several years serving as the color analyst on Nevada TV broadcasts. A member of the Nevada Athletics Hall of Fame and Nevada’s All-Century football team, Vargas led Nevada to its only NCAA I-AA championship game appearance in 1991 and was the MVP of the 1992 Las Vegas Bowl, the Wolf Pack’s first bowl appearance in 44 years. After his Nevada playing career was done, he also spent five seasons as a starting quarterback in the Canadian Football League.

Wolf Pack Sports Properties will broadcast 134 regular-season games, 160 daily shows and coaches' shows on the radio in the upcoming year. ESPN 630 AM will continue to serve as the flagship station for Wolf Pack football and men's basketball, while Fox Sports Radio 920 AM will broadcast all 12 football games in Las Vegas. KDOT 104.5 FM will also carry select Saturday night football and men's basketball games in Reno.

Wolf Pack Sports Properties will also televise at least 12 Wolf Pack football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball games in 2008-09 on KAME-TV 21 in Reno and on Comcast SportsNet West regionally. Nevada's television schedule will be announced later this summer when the sport schedules are finalized.
