The Pack added two more runs in the top of the second inning to go in front 3-0. Back-to-back doubles by shortstop Kevin Rodland and catcher Tyson Jaquez scored the first run. Second baseman Brian Lloyd’s bunt moved Jaquez to third base where he scored on center fielder Jason Sadoian’s ground out to second base.
SJSU sent nine players to the plate in the bottom of the fifth and four scored to take the lead 4-3. The first run scored when catcher Anthony Aguilera was hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Pinch hitter Craig Hertler drove in two with a single and second baseman Karson Klauer put the Spartans on top with a single.

After the first two hitters of the bottom of the sixth were retired by relief pitcher Chris Garcia right fielder Alex Sofranac doubled. Garcia made a costly throwing error on a ball hit back to the mound that would have ended the inning and the next four Spartan hitters collected singles as four unearned run scored to put SJSU back on top 8-7. That’s were it remained as
Garcia(2-4) suffered the loss giving up the four unearned runs on five hits, retiring two hitters in the sixth inning. Anthony Vega(3-2) pitched 3.1 shutout innings to earn the win for the Spartans.
