Nevada Will again work in the weekend rotation and serve as the Pack designated hitter when not on the mound...most underrated pitcher in the WAC according collegebaseballinsider.com that polled the conference coaches... expected to produce both on the mound and at the plate...gives the team an experienced left-handed pitcher and left-handed bat...pitched the 2009 summer in the Cape Cod League for the Orleans Firebirds where he was 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA in 14 relief appearances tossing 19.1 innings and striking out 15.

2009(So.): Worked in the weekend rotation making 13 starts and also appeared in relief twice...hitting for the first time in his college career he saw action in 38 games and started 26 at designated hitter...pitching: on the mound he led the team with six wins, tied for second with 13 starts, ranked third with 73.1 innings pitched, was third with 54 strikeouts and his .306 opponent batting average was fifth...team went 8-5 when he started...in WAC action his 25 strikeouts tied for eighth and 10 strikeouts looking was fourth in the conference...pitched a career-high 8.1 innings in a 6-5 loss versus Oregon(3/13) but just two of the six runs were earned...tied his career-high with seven strikeouts at LA Tech(4/3) on the way to the win...recorded a strikeout in 13-of-15 appearances... pitched the Pack to a 8-4 win over then #10 Missouri(2/22) the opening weekend of the season allowing two runs, one earned and striking out six in five innings on the mound...hitting: started 26 games at designated hitter...hit a 3-run homer in the top of the eighth-inning in the season opener vs. Gonzaga(2/20) to tie the game at 3-3 which was his first hit as a collegiate player....four home runs tied for fourth on the team and .306 on base percentage was fifth...hit the game winning home run in the top of the ninth-inning at #10 UC Irvine(3/21) to give the Pack the 5-4 victory as he was 4-for-5 with three runs scored...career-high four RBI at UNLV(3/18)...career-high four hits at UNLV(3/18) and at UCI(3/21)...four hits tied for the high by a Pack player... earned second baseball letter.

2008(Fr.): Began the season working out of the bullpen but moved into the weekend rotation and made nine starts on the season...4-2 with a save and posted a 4.85 ERA in 17 appearances...17 appearances was third on the team...Pack were 7-2 when he started...recorded the save in the Pack’s 11-10 victory over Saint Mary’s College (3/11) allowing a run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts...first two starts came in the same week and he won both allowing a run on five hits in a 23-1 victory over UNLV(4/1) pitching four innings on Tuesday then allowed a run on four hits in 5.2 innings on Sunday as the Pack defeated New Mexico State(4/6) 11-1...improved to 3-0 pitching seven innings at Hawai`i(4/19) giving up three runs on two hits and struck out five in the 4-3 victory, the only win the Pack had in four games in Honolulu...fourth win of the year was also against Hawai`i(5/24) in the WAC Tournament when he pitched his longest outing of the season allowing five runs, four earned with a career-high seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings as the Pack won 12-7 to move them into the title game...4.54 ERA in WAC only games ranked 13th in the conference... earned first baseball letter...Summer League: pitching for the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox he earned first-team Horizon Air Summer Baseball Series honors playing the outfield after hitting .359 with 29 runs scored, 55 hits, nine doubles, a home run and 25 RBI for a squad that was 35-11 and 30-10 in the Don McCullough Division which left the team one half game back of the Seattle Studs for the title...only pitched one inning during the summer for the Gold Sox concentrating on playing the outfield.
High School Three-year baseball letter winner for his father Jim Stassi at Yuba City High School in Yuba City, Calif...Nor Cal medium schools Player of the Year, league MVP, area MVP and second-team All-State selection his senior season... Honkers went 30-1 on the season and won the Tri-County Conference title with a 14-1 record...YCHS won the 2007 Sac-Joaquin Section title...hit .440 with 30 runs scored, eight doubles, a triple, two home runs and 37 RBI as a senior...on the mound went 10-0 with 1.00 ERA and 98 strikeouts while walking just 18 in 63 innings pitched.
Personal Social studies major...born Aug. 7, 1989...son of Jim and Racquelle Stassi...brother Max was a three-time member of the National Team...Max was drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 MLB Draft and signed with the Oakland A’s following his senior season of high school...in his free time enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, eating, sleeping and listening to music...father Jim played at Nevada two years(1980-81) and earned Conference Player of the Year honors in 1981...chose to attend Nevada over Cal State Northridge and Sacramento State...father reached the Triple A level in the San Francisco Giants organization...grandfather Bob was a Triple-A catcher for the Hollywood Stars, and his great uncle, Sam Jr., played in the Sacramento Valley League...great grandfather, Sam Stassi Sr., played with the San Francisco Seals, and great great uncle, Myril Hoag, was a New York Yankees teammate of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig...father was inducted into the Nevada Sports Hall of Fame in 2005...list Barry Bonds and his father as his sports heroes.
