RENO, Nev. -  Nevada freshman guard Jerry Evans has been certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center and can join the Wolf Pack basketball team, Nevada head coach David Carter announced Monday afternoon.

Evans enrolled at the University of Nevada in January and has been attending classes all semester.

"We are very excited that Jerry has been cleared by the NCAA Eligibility Center and look forward to having him as part of our program," Carter said. "This has been a long and frustrating process for Jerry and his family, but we are excited that he is now able to officially join our team and participate in all of our activities. Jerry is a very talented and versatile guard who fits the way we want to play at Nevada and should be able to help us in the future."

A 6-7, 180-pound guard, Evans comes from Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, Calif. He averaged 15.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last year. He also shot 54.6 percent from the field last year in helping his team to a 26-7 record.
