LONG BEACH, Calif. - After two days of competition at the Toshiba Classic being hosted by UC San Diego at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif. the University of Nevada swimming & diving team is in 11th place with 171.5 points. Stanford's 1202.5 points leads the field of 26 teams that features many of the elite schools in collegiate swimming.
For the second day in a row senior Margaret Doolittle (Sacramento, Calif.) had the Pack's top individual swim placing fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.77. In the first event of the day Doolittle teamed with junior Jeanette Tour (Stockholm, Sweden), junior Marichi Gandionco (Quezon City, Philippines) and freshman Calley Parham (Lubbock, Texas) to swim to an eighth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay completing the event in 1:45.72.
Tour also swam the 100-yard backstroke where she placed 21st with a time of 57.53. Gandionco was 22nd in the 100-yard butter posting a time of 57.28 in the finals.
In the 400-yard IM senior Stephanie Braun (Reno) was 43rd with a time of 4:40.60. Parham swam to a 44th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.74.
Braun, senior Miranda Moore (Spokane, Wash.), Gandionco and Parham ended day two with a 14th place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay recording a time of 7:52.64
The three-day meet concludes on Saturday with six events.
