Reno, Nev. - Game two of Nevada's silver and blue baseball series being played at Peccole Park was suspended after nine innings with the score tied at 2-2. The game was originally scheduled for seven innings but was suspended after nine innings and may be concluded after Friday's fifth game of the series if needed to determine the winning team.
The five-game series will conclude fall practice. The silver team won the first game of the series 4-2 in nine innings last Friday.
The silver squad scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning when center fielder Jameson Rowe walked and moved to third base on third baseman Nick Leid's single. Left fielder Nick Melino's RBI ground out put the silver team on top 1-0.
In the top of the second inning the blue team scored a pair of runs to move in front 2-1. Left fielder Waylen Sing Chow started the rally with a walk and moved to third base on second baseman Joe Kohan's double. Catcher Carlos Escobar's ground ball scored Sing Chow with the tying run as Kohan moved to third. Third baseman Ray McIntire delivered a sacrifice fly to put the blue in front as Kohan crossed the plate.
The silver squad tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Right fielder Brett Hart and Rowe drew walks and Leid delivered a two-out RBI single to tie the score. Leid led the blue team with two hits on the day.
Thomas Jameson and Mat Keplinger combined to toss four shutout innings for the blue team. Beau Witsoe, Jared Harvey and Tyler Graham were just as effective tossing seven combined shutout innings of relief for the silver team.
Starters for tomorrow third game will be sophomore Branden Petrangelo for the silver squad while Carson High School freshman Matt Rutledge will take the mound for the blue team. First pitch is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
